Angels In Panama
Third Party Reviews
Senor Matthews, You made me so homesick. I am Panamanian, but moved with my parents to Texas
when I was 14. Your descriptions of the country of my birth hit the nail. And your saga of the niños
needs to be told. My mother cried in several places as she read. Thank you.

As a writer myself, I know how difficult it can be to write a book. Either its long on action and short on dialogue or the opposite happens - too much dialogue and not enough action. Angels in Panama has a lot of dialogue and the language switch-ups are distracting.
What did come through, loud and clear, was the author's love for Panama. The people and places and especially the children, are vivid and touchable. He brought Elisa to life and I envied the characters Shirley and John the ability to be given a chance to raise her. It pulled at your heart strings knowing they were going to be able to give her a better life than the one she would have known of poverty and abuse. She would have suffered unspeakably without them coming into her life, and the main character Terry who brought her out of her shell and saved it initially.
If I could offer one piece of advice to the author, I would say put some action, some color into the world around the characters. They sat on a sofa, what was it made of it, what color, what did it smell like? What did the air smell like? What color was the ocean, the texture of the sand? ........

Great book. I am a big fan of adventure and my wife likes the human interest angle, especially
because it involved children. For us, your book had it all. We look forward to "Angels and Heroes."
